Lindani Maduna is a South African artist born in 1996 in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal. His work celebrates the evolution of human creativity in the world. He looks at the role that popular culture plays in influencing trends in the modern day media, particularly digital platforms. He sees people in societies becoming more absorbed by the pressure of wanting to look beautiful and sophisticated. He also observes the pushing of boundaries by modern day people in exhibiting new fashion looks and digital makeup that connects ancient with modern day symbols. He sees the digital age as proof that people are not afraid to evolve and embrace new materials and symbols to define life in a different perspective. It is these symbols with which he probes and explores to find peace and new ways of defining beauty.
