Morgan Mahape is a South African multi-media artist born in 1982 at Umlazi township in the city of Durban. 

My artwork critically investigates evolving social and cultural issues in African communities and explores the relationship between popular culture and fine art. I am inspired by how people can place value in objects like beads as indicators of contact, trade, and coding. I reproduce familiar visuals and aural signs arranging them into new conceptual symbols. My artworks are the arrangements of human figures aligned with natural forms, i.e., landscapes, trees, and pastures, which together display the pure identities, expressions of humanity, and dignity carried by these people. My artistic process consists of inspiration, percolation, preparation, creation, and reflection, which are signs of patience and hard work.
